Class 7 Learner Driving Lessons

Build your driving foundation one skill at a time

Training overview

Learning to drive is a sequence of small skills that need to work together. At NEW ERA DRIVING SCHOOL LTD., Class 7 learner training focuses on understanding the vehicle, looking for hazards early and making safe decisions before increasing the difficulty of a driving task.

Who is this training for?

These lessons are for learners preparing to drive safely under B.C. licence conditions and work toward their Class 7 novice road test when eligible. If you are nervous, have limited practice or want help with particular manoeuvres, tell us when arranging lessons.

Skills and training topics

Your starting skills and licence conditions help determine the training plan. Topics to discuss include:

  • Seat, mirror and control setup before moving
  • Steering, stopping, starting and maintaining an appropriate speed
  • Observation routines, signs, signals and right-of-way
  • Turning, intersection scanning and lane positioning
  • Parking, backing and judging space around the car
  • Recognizing hazards and planning the next action
  • Understanding road-test tasks and practising without rushing

Before you begin

  • Obtain a valid Class 7L licence before on-road learner lessons.
  • The minimum age to apply for an L is 16; applicants under 18 need parent or guardian consent.
  • Follow the supervisor and other restrictions printed on your licence and in current ICBC guidance.
  • Check your individual road-test eligibility date with ICBC.
ICBC updated the GLP in October 2026. Learner timelines can depend on age and individual circumstances. Use the current ICBC guidance rather than relying on an older fixed waiting period. These lessons are not advertised as an ICBC-approved GLP course or as qualifying for a licensing-time reduction.

Check your individual requirements with ICBC before booking. Official guidance: ICBC learner licence information · ICBC current GLP changes

Your next steps

  1. Prepare for the knowledge test and obtain your learner licence.
  2. Discuss your practice experience and arrange available lessons.
  3. Build skills progressively and practise between lessons within your licence conditions.
  4. Confirm eligibility and prepare for the Class 7 novice road test.

Schedule and training arrangements

Call us with your preferred days, current licence and training goal. We will discuss available times, lesson duration, equipment and the scope of training before you book. Any road-test booking help or vehicle use must be confirmed directly.

Training fees

Fees are provided on request after discussing your needs. Ask what is included in your quote and whether any test-related arrangements are separate.

Common questions

Can I start practical lessons before getting my L?

You need a valid licence that permits the driving practice. If you are still studying, ask about our knowledge-test preparation.

Are lessons a guarantee that I will pass?

No. Lessons help you develop skills, but readiness, eligibility and the test result are assessed separately.

Can you help with the knowledge test?

We offer a separate knowledge-test preparation service. See the Knowledge Tests page or call us to discuss it.
