Class 5 Driving Lessons

Practical support for confident everyday driving

Training overview

Good driving habits need practice, whether you are returning to the road, getting used to B.C. traffic or looking for support with a specific skill. NEW ERA DRIVING SCHOOL LTD. offers Class 5 driving lessons focused on observation, control and thoughtful decisions in everyday traffic.

Who is this training for?

Lessons can be discussed for licensed drivers seeking refresher support and eligible applicants who need driving preparation. If ICBC has required a road test as part of a licence exchange or another individual process, tell us the details when you call.

Skills and training topics

Your starting skills and licence conditions help determine the training plan. Topics to discuss include:

  • Mirror checks, shoulder checks and recognizing developing hazards
  • Safe lane changes, merging and managing following distance
  • Intersection decisions, right-of-way and speed control
  • Parking, backing and low-speed vehicle control
  • Planning ahead and responding calmly to changing road conditions
  • Practising identified weaknesses and reviewing progress

Before you begin

  • Hold a valid licence or learner licence that permits the planned practice.
  • Tell us about any licence restrictions that affect your lessons.
  • Confirm with ICBC whether you need testing or a Driving Record Assessment.
B.C. changed its Graduated Licensing Program on October 19, 2026. Eligible novice drivers now use a Driving Record Assessment to move to a Class 5 licence with restrictions rather than taking a second road test. Individual eligibility and restriction periods are determined by ICBC.

Check your individual requirements with ICBC before booking. Official guidance: ICBC Graduated Licensing Program changes

Your next steps

  1. Explain your current licence status and what you want to improve.
  2. Discuss a suitable lesson plan and available training times.
  3. Practise relevant skills with feedback and identify useful follow-up practice.
  4. Complete any ICBC licensing steps that apply to your situation.

Schedule and training arrangements

Call us with your preferred days, current licence and training goal. We will discuss available times, lesson duration, equipment and the scope of training before you book. Any road-test booking help or vehicle use must be confirmed directly.

Training fees

Fees are provided on request after discussing your needs. Ask what is included in your quote and whether any test-related arrangements are separate.

Common questions

Does every N driver need a Class 5 road test?

No. The current GLP pathway uses a Driving Record Assessment for eligible novice drivers. Other applicants may have different testing requirements.

Can I take lessons just to improve my driving?

Yes. Call to discuss the skills you want to practise, your licence status and available refresher options.
